PASSIVE VOICE

Pengertian Passive Voice
Passive voice adalah suatu bentuk kalimat dimana subjek kalimat menerima aksi, bukan melakukan aksi. Tidak seperti active voice yang fokus terhadap pihak yang melakukan aksi (doer of action), bentuk ini lebih berfokus kepada pihak atau objek yang menerima hasil dari suatu aksi tersebut (receiver of action).
 Active   My parents plant some flowers
   (Pelaku aksi)
Passive   Some flowers are planted by my parents
   (Penerima aksi)

Hal yang perlu dipelajari sebelum membahas mengenai  Passive Voice adalah:
1. Be (To Be)
2. V3 (Past Participle)
3. Transitive Verb
4. S + P + O
5. Tenses


1. Be  (To Be) yang digunakan dalam tenses:
    Simple Present: is, am, are
    Simple Past     : was, were
    Future              : be
    Continuous      : being
    Perfect             : been

2. V3 (Past Participle)
    reguler   : study  ,  studied,   studied
    irregular : write  ,   wrote,     written

 3. Transitive verb
    Kata kerja yang digunakan dalam kalimat passive adalah kata kerja yang memerlukan objek.
     e.g : eat, cook, study, write, etc
    John eats some cakes

4. S + P + O----Subject + Predicate/Verb + Object
    Mary wrote a novel
       S        P        O

5. Tenses
1. SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE
   ACTIVE :         S + V1/(s,es)  + O
   PASSIVE:         S + is/am/are + V3 + by + O
  Example :
  ACTIVE  : Somebody holds a ceremony.
                  (Seseorang menyelenggarakan sebuah upacara.)                                                                  
  PASSIVE : A ceremony is held by somebody.
                    (Sebuah upacara diselenggarakan oleh seseorang)
2. SIMPLE PAST TENSE
    ACTIVE :         S + V2 + O
    PASSIVE:         S + was/were + V3 + by + O
    Example:
    ACTIVE   :     I wrote some letters yesterday.
                         (Saya menulis beberapa surat kemarin.)
    PASSIVE  :     Some letters were written by me yesterday.
                          (Beberapa surat ditulis oleh saya kemarin.)                                                                
3. PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
    ACTIVE   :          S  + is,am, are  + V1 ing  + O
    PASSIVE  :          S  + is, am, are  + being   + V3 + BY + O
    Example:
  ACTIVE  :    He is writing a novel now.
                     (Dia sedang menulis sebuah novel sekarang.)                                
   PASSIVE:     A novel is being written by him now.
                      ( Sebuah novel sedang ditulis oleh dia sekarang.)
                       
 4. PRESENT PERFECT TENSE
   ACTIVE     :      S  + have/has  + V3  + O
   PASSIVE    :      S   + have/has + been  + V3  + by + O
  Example  :
  ACTIVE  :   She has bought some oranges. 
                   (Dia sudah membeli beberapa jeruk)                                                                      
  PASSIVE :  Some oranges have been bought by her.
                    ( Beberapa jeruk sudah dibeli oleh dia.)       
              
  5. PRESENT FUTURE TENSE
    ACTIVE      :     S  + will/shall  + V1 + O
    PASSIVE     :     S  + will/shall  + be + V3 + by + O
    Example   :     
   ACTIVE  : They will build a new house next month.
               (Mereka akan membangun sebuah rumah baru buklan depan )             
   PASSIVE :  A new house will be built by them next month.
              (Sebuah rumah baru akan dibangun oleh mereka bulan depan)

Translate the passive voices into Indonesia

Example:

A novel will be written by  her next week

(Sebuah novel akan ditulis oleh dia minggu depan.)

1. her car was bought by father last week.

2. My motorcycle was stolen in the parking area.

3. the dialogue is being listened by me now.

4. Tennis.will be played by them tomorrow.

5. The book was written by my father.

6. The bottle has been taken by Sandy.

7.  My phone will be bought by her.

8. A question is asked by me to Hendra

9. A joke is being told to us by the teacher.

10. A useful advice has been given to me by them
